The title describes it all.. We arrive in Moscow and find our way easily through it's stunning underground network with it's impressive paintings and sculptures reminding us of what soviet Russia used to be like.. After a morning kick coffee (ginger, chili and other spices) and a scrumptious breakfast at our first Couchsurfing host we venture ourselves in the core of the city: The Red Square. A what a huge one, surrounded by the Kremlin walls with at it's feet the memorial for all the great leaders, and the chamber where Lenin's body is kept in perfect condition (honestly it looked like one of the statues in Madam Tussauds..!), the popular St Basils cathedral with it's colourful domes, and a giant shopping mall which was built in the early 20th century, retro style! The rest of our discover of this modern city was somehow disappointing after St Petersburg, but we nevertheless enjoyed the highlights and learning about Russian icon paintings and the lifestyle of a 'Moscovite' through the eyes of our host. And off we were to discover the old capitals of this huge country..!
